Welcome, and there’s something I need to share with you…
You WILL have an impact, no matter how well you lead and influence.
Work with us, and we will be an influence in your life to help you impact the world in the way you would like to.
Who do we help gain an unfair AdvantEDGE?
We work primarily in Tech Leadership. That is in organisations that are highly tech focussed – either in what they sell or how they create products and services. Basically, you have a lot of engineers, geeks and nerds around.
What we do
Coaching and training that leverage neuroscience hacks to empower your leadership influence and business acumen and give you an EDGE.
We’ve narrowed down to three key leadership areas of our work. Just 3.
Our sister company site in the UK, Corporateedge.co.uk will continue to focus on finance.
As your Training Partner, how do we do it?
I’m often asked why I can’t spell AdvantEdge properly and it’s because EDGE is our development process.
EDGE stands for Encourage, Develop, Guide and Empower.
There are several thousand professional speakers you can hire to give a talk to you and your team. Many are very good. I have a lot of friends who do this for a living and they “love sitting at the front of the plane” and enjoy the kudos of a standing ovation. Entertaining and encouraging they are and often very insightful. But is a motivational speaker enough?
You’ve been to one of those ‘rah-rah’ talks or at least watched one on TED. You learn something and get that warm encouragement. But a few days later, a little thing called ‘life’ starts to interfere with your plans to change following that talk and the encouragement dissipates like a morning mist in the Singapore sunshine. Perhaps you need to develop more skills to be able to get better?
So you attend a two-day workshop
And learn how to develop the skills. You learn to present better, or how to influence. Perhaps how to motivate and make an impact. Maybe some negotiation skills or improve your selling techniques.
There are thousands of training companies who will offer to train you and your team, some cheaply, some very expensively. A few, and I sadly do mean just a few, are excellent. The trainers are engaging, the material well structured and you will benefit from a safe environment in the workshop. If they are really good, they’ll use simulations and games within the workshop and you not only learn how you should do this leadership stuff, but actually get to practice it in the workshop.
A good workshop has lasting effects. I happened to meet one of my clients from 15 years ago at a cafe recently who remembered a workshop I ran for his former company fondly as “the best workshop I have ever been on.” He recalled the simulation game and the changes he made then as a manager.
And he also benefited from some additional guidance
Switched on companies know that a workshop isn’t enough either. We all know that, in order to change, we need to be encouraged to take a bold new leap into something fearful and uncomfortable. We also need to develop the right skill set. And we also need regular guidance to keep us on track.
Coaching and mentoring after a workshop – either by the training provider or by your managers, continues the process of putting the new skills and desires into action at the workplace.
One of the biggest complaints heard about training workshops is that the change doesn’t last. And it’s often true. For me to use my new skills at work I need to continue to be encouraged by my peers and bosses and my team. I need to practice the new skills on a regular basis to gain mastery and for that, I am best served by being coached and guided regularly.
And once I have useful new skills it makes sense that I am empowered to use them, right?
You might think that an organisation that sends people on training workshops would automatically empower those same folk to use the skills. Sadly this is less automatic than you might suppose. The intentions are there for most people, it’s just the practical aspects. More often than not, the workbook you get in the workshop sits smugly on the shelf. Maybe you have a certificate of attendance on the wall, but how about an easy way to access just one reminder of a tool for a given situation? How about a template of questions to structure a courageous conversation? What about easy access to a coaching review process so that you can cascade your leadership skills and coach your own team?
You need your managers to empower those who have been on training and give them easy access to the tools and templates to use their skills in multivariate situations.
You need an EDGE from your training partner
That’s why I created the EDGE approach to our training and development. And EDGE gives you an unfair AdvantEDGE.
Whatever training and development you are looking to do in your organisation, look for a partner who gives you that EDGE. They will help you:
- Encourage (like an excellent motivational speaker). Develop (like the best trainers and facilitators in the world using games, experiential activities and simulations)
- Develop (like the best trainers and facilitators in the world using games, experiential activities and simulations)
- Guide (coach and mentor your team and train your managers to coach and train)
- Empower (provide you with easy access to the tools and templates to sustain your development initiatives)
oh, and one more “E” thing a truly innovative partner will do, they’ll help you Evaluate the programmes to measure the business impact and ROI.
So what about partnering with us?
What programmes do you do?
We lovingly hand-craft workshops and coaching for you in three areas:
- Impact and Influence (including our signature workshop: “Presenting with Influence“)
- Team Leadership (which includes our signature workshop: “The Synergy Illusion“) and
- Talent Management (including our world famous GAINMORE™ AdvantEdge and PILARs of Leadership)
Will you come and develop my team for free?
No. For that you pay.
How about a free session so we can get to know you?
Do you run public programmes that we could send 1 or 2 people?
No. Our workshops and coaching are hand-crafted for you.
Could we sit in on a programme that you run for someone else?
Here’s a deal for you. You pay for us to run a workshop for your team, and we’ll fill the back of the room with a bunch of people from other companies… that OK? I didn’t think so. IOW, No.
So how do we know that what you offer is right for us?
Firstly, we are good at what we do. Very good. In fact, we think that we’re just about the best you’ll find.
Secondly, we’ve been around a long time now. We started Corporate Edge way back in 1991. We have had the privilege to work with many household name companies, across pretty well every industry, and we almost always get told “our training was the best training that I have ever attended.” We’ve worked with many small businesses too and several thousand individuals. As I said before, we’re good, very good.
Third, we partner with you – watch this presentation to understand how we do this. We’re not hauling some off-the-shelf, one-size-fits-all programme we bought from some other company and regurgitating it. No, we lovingly hand craft your workshop with you. To best meet your needs within your budget and time constraints.
Will you give us a proposal and then we’ll discuss…?
No. It’s wasting our time and yours. Let’s discuss if and how we can help you first (go on you know that watching the presentation would have answered this). You tell us your objectives, your constraints (including time and budget) and your preferences for style of workshop and venue. From here we can work with you on the metrics to measure a successful programme for you.
How can we be sure?
We’ll help you create suitable metrics for the programme, and we can help you (or work with a third party) to measure the ROI for your programme. No ROI, we’ll refund your fee how’s that?
What! You’ll give us our money back?
Yes. Very simple. No ROI, no fee. We call it our “No ROI, no fee” guarantee. Clear?
How much do you charge?
Forgive me for not putting my prices up here for my lazy competitors to steal and undercut because they know they can’t compete with us except on price. I assure you that we are not cheap. Nor are we anything like as expensive as the major consultancies or business schools. And we’re better! Seriously. We know, because we bridge between academia and business (ask the next prof you see how many years of experience they have earning their living from business). We also bridge technology and leadership. We’re a hybrid. And we work great with engineers and business people.
Yes, other providers can and will be cheaper than we are. But just ask them how much they refund… oh of course, they don’t, because they don’t guarantee your ROI… heck, they won’t even measure it.
We’re professionals; we are very well qualified, and we charge an appropriate fee for our services. And critically important, the people who you meet and who are your client managers, they will be your trainers too. We don’t fly in our big shots and then let a fresh grad take over (try that with the top 10 consultancies!)
